I spent Easter with the sole purpose of relaxing and tasting the new Behike collection by Cohiba. It was a truly memorable weekend!

Easter Saturday

In the evening I sat down in my country house in Lincolnshire and with a beautiful crisp glass of Mersault I embarked upon the Cohiba Behike Robustos 52. Strong and sweet with an amazing flavour. This is the new super cigar that was launched at the Cuban cigar festival in February, and which goes on sale in May.

It was not only memorable, but exciting as it uses the new and rare medio tiempo leaf and it was simply superb.

My taste buds were alive, I can highly recommend that you pre-order-johnny@sauttercigars.com as these are in very limited production; I'm personally laying down 25 boxes for my own collection. There are 15 in a box and they will be the most sought after cigars to come out of Cuba in the last 10 years.

Having discussed the leaf whilst I was in Cuba with the rollers and the grower from Cohiba, they have really not let us down.

Sunday night.

The 54 gauge Behike is of a similar length to the http://www.sauttercigars.com/siglo-vi.html but is a completely different smoke. Like welcoming your best friend into your home, it's a longer smoke than the Robustos, beginning as an equal to the Robustos. Yet like a classic racehorse, it finishes with a burst of flavour and please excuse me by saying with real passion, the smell and taste are fantastic. To top it all, that extra bit of length, gives you an overall satisfaction that I have never witnessed before in a non-vintage cigar.

The key phrase here is "If you snooze, you lose." Get your pre-bookings in now! johnny@sauttercigars.com I know I am and I may even go overboard on this one, lord knows how good it will be with a little bit of age on it.

Monday night.

After driving through the traffic I arrived in London at 5.30pm and sat down to a glass of Chateaux Lynch - Bargs 1990 and attempted to light a 56 ring gauge Behike, my fingers started to tingle in anticipation having just created our new tapers (this is the cedar wood that separates the cigars from the box, often discarded but perfect for lighting a cigar) the first inch was very good, it tasted sweet, strong and was accelerating in the flavour and pleasure I was getting. Halfway through I thought I'd just arrived in heaven, this smoke is mind-boggling amazing. It's not good it's GREAT and one could eulogise forever... I have honestly never tasted anything quite as superb, the burn is also tremendous. An hour later I was coming to the end of the cigar and decided I needed to celebrate so I opened a 1994, Laffite Rothschild Armagnac and declared that Easter Monday 2010 to me, was the birth of a new generation of smoking! This cigar according to the growers is not only the dearest but the most difficult and complicated to roll. Although it scored a perfect 10 on the drillmaster machine in Cuba, I thought that for the first time I've ever had a totally even ash that was over 2 inches high, it stood up in the ashtray like a pillar. For aficionados around the world this Behike, the grand daddy of all sizes, shows that Cuba with its great and fine traditions can also be creative and inventive in this modern age, and without having to sacrifice any quality. Whatever you do, whatever you smoke, you MUST and I emphasise MUST indulge yourself. If you remember the Cohiba Sublime, it started life at just over £30 and is now selling regularly for over £140. This is not only an amazing smoke, but will be an amazing investment. There is  very limited production of these three Behike cigars, so if you want to be sure of getting them, please do pre-order- johnny@sauttercigars.com as we have only managed to secure 450 of each.

Hunters and Frankau are doing an official launch, tickets will be £150 and you will be given 1 each of the Behiki's to take home plus being able to try the Robustos Behiki on the night. There are only a small amount of tickets, so when reserving your cigars, contact johnny@sauttercigars.com if you wish to partake in an evening to mark the launch of this remarkable cigar.

Although it’s Tuesday morning when I’m writing this blog, I am filled fond memories and with excited anticipation for the 12th May when the Behiki shall become available.... they will be as rare as hen's teeth.
